On Any Dark and Spooky Night was originally the collection was published as a 1992 chapbook by The Ormond Beach Observer when Audrey Parente was first a freelance reporter. Actor Gary Bullock coached her in a performance of six of the poems at Brevard College, North Carolina where they were both instructors in the summer arts program.
The introduction in the BOLD VENTURE PRESS edition Is by award-winning author Jan Godown Annino, who reads this collection to children at her local library annually near Halloween. One of Annino's most important works is a 2015 U.S. Library of Congress Great Read for Kids: SHE SANG PROMISE: The Story of Betty Mae Jumper, created in collaboration with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
